Spring time is Strawberry time

Who doesn’t love strawberries?

Imagine a lovely sweet aroma, a bright red color and juicy texture – simply a fruit you just can’t get enough from. For me these are strawberries. Every year when they appear at the markets and supermarket shelves they are catching my eyes and set my heart aflutter.

Not for nothing strawberries are cultivated all around the world. People consume them in so many different variations, either fresh or prepared as juices, cakes, chocolate, ice cream and milkshakes. Their aromas are even used in health care products such as lip gloss, perfume or hand crèmes.

And the benefits for our bodies?

Strawberries are fully packed with antioxidants, fibers, vitamin C  and K. They are among the top 20 fruits in antioxidant capacity and a source of manganese and potassium. Several studies have proven that those small incredible fruits are improving heart function, are good for the skin and anti-aging, boost immunity and brain function and may even help to prevent cancer.


My favorite recipe for a strawberry cake

This is really an easy one:

For the dough you only need to mix:
100g butter
100g sugar
100g flour
1 pack baking powder
1 pack vanilla sugar
2 eggs
put it at 170°C for 30 minutes into the oven.
Let it cool down and put the cream topping:
200g cream
175g curd cheese
1 pack vanilla sugar
Orange juice  and a little bit of fresh cut mint
And of course: strawberries!! 🍓
